About Shape Match Adventure

Shape Match Adventure is a Montessori-style shape sorter. Children drag a shape to its matching outline, starting with the circle, square, triangle and rectangle and moving on to the oval, diamond, star, heart, pentagon, hexagon and octagon — a much wider set than most shape games bother with.

The clever part is what comes after the plain shapes. Children then match shapes to real objects built from them: an apple, banana, cherries and grapes, a carrot, ice cream, cake, a fish, butterfly, bird, turtle, snail, elephant, rabbit, the sun, moon and clouds. That step is where shape recognition turns into actually seeing shapes in the world, which is the whole point of teaching it.

How to Play

  1. Look at the shape you are given.
  2. Drag it onto the matching outline.
  3. Move on to shapes hidden inside real objects.
  4. Complete the set to unlock the next group.

What Kids Learn

  • Naming eleven shapes, not just four
  • Spotting shapes inside everyday objects
  • Drag-and-drop control
  • Visual discrimination between similar shapes

Questions Parents Ask

Which shapes does it cover?
Circle, oval, square, rectangle, triangle, pentagon, hexagon, octagon, diamond, star and heart — a wider set than most shape games for this age.
Is it timed?
No. Children take as long as they need on each match, which is central to the Montessori approach the game is built on.
What age is it for?
From about age 2 for the basic shapes, up to 6 for the octagon, pentagon and the object-matching stage.
