About the Physics Puzzle Lab

Physics Puzzle Lab teaches physical intuition by making children predict what will happen, then showing them. In water mode they cut and draw channels in the earth to steer a flow towards where it needs to go; in rope mode they cut ropes in the right order so a swinging candy lands on target.

Neither mode explains gravity or momentum in words. Children work it out by trying, watching the result and adjusting — which is how physical intuition genuinely forms. Levels can be replayed endlessly with no penalty, so experimenting is free. It is the closest thing on the site to a science experiment that fits in a pocket.

How to Play

  1. Choose water mode or rope mode.
  2. Look at where the water or candy needs to end up.
  3. Draw a channel, or cut ropes in the right order.
  4. Watch what happens and adjust if it misses.

What Kids Learn

  • Gravity, flow and momentum by observation
  • Predicting an outcome before acting
  • Trial, error and adjustment
  • Order of operations in solving a problem

Questions Parents Ask

What are the two modes?
Water mode, where children draw channels to guide a flow, and rope mode, where they cut ropes in the right order to swing a candy onto its target.
Is any physics knowledge needed first?
None at all. Children learn by trying and watching. Nothing is explained in technical language — the intuition comes from repeated attempts.
What age is it for?
Around 6 and up. Younger children enjoy the water flow experimentally; the rope puzzles need more planning and suit 8 and above.
