About Emotions Learning Games

Emotions Learning Games gives children the vocabulary to say how they feel. It covers sixteen emotions — happy, sad, angry, scared, surprised, sleepy, excited, confused, proud, silly, shy, bored, brave, lonely, calm and embarrassed — which is far beyond the happy-sad-angry that most emotion games stop at.

Three modes handle it differently. Learn introduces each feeling with its facial expression, Quiz checks whether a child can recognise it, and Story puts the emotion in a situation so they see what causes it. That last mode matters most: knowing the word proud is not much use until you have seen what a proud moment looks like from the outside.

How to Play

  1. Open Learn to meet each emotion and its face.
  2. Take the Quiz to name the feeling shown.
  3. Read a Story to see what causes that emotion.
  4. Work through all sixteen feelings at your own pace.

What Kids Learn

  • Naming sixteen distinct emotions
  • Reading facial expressions
  • Connecting situations to feelings
  • Empathy and emotional vocabulary

Questions Parents Ask

Which emotions are covered?
Sixteen: happy, sad, angry, scared, surprised, sleepy, excited, confused, proud, silly, shy, bored, brave, lonely, calm and embarrassed.
Is it useful for a child who struggles to express feelings?
It is one of the better tools for it. Having a word and a picture for a feeling gives a child something to point at when they cannot explain it themselves.
What are the three modes?
Learn introduces each emotion and its expression, Quiz tests recognition, and Story shows the situation that causes the feeling.
